CozyMaxxing Your Brand Into Spring
Incorporate this Evolving Trend into your Marketing asap!
CozyMaxxing is getting lots of attention as a keyword and a movement this week
One of the top trends on Google search this week is Cozymaxxing! When I first heard about this I thought it was a clever TJ Maxx hashtag - and it may have originally started that way a few years back - lively discussion boards on Reddit focused on the concept in depth more than 2 years ago. As of yesterday it was peaking as a search term across all internet platforms.
Winter is a natural time to snuggle and stay in bed, but what as we head into Spring this trend offers a fresh look at the idea.
Cozymaxxing is not to be confused with the Danish concept of hygge. Hygge emphasizes simplified, comfortable atmospheres and a sense of well-being. It involves creating an uncluttered, inviting environment, often through warm lighting, comfortable textiles, and shared moments with loved ones.
Hygge and cozymaxxing share similarities, but they are not the same.
What is CozyMaxxing?
Key components of cozymaxxing involve creating a soothing “maxxed” atmosphere, often through the use of items like plush blankets, cushions, and candles. It celebrates and elevates self-care, reading, drinking tea, enjoying soothing hobbies, and spending time in a comfortable setting. This is often under a blanket but also translates into enjoying flowers, picnics, and garden sitting. It has a more maximalist bent that embraces collecting and layering rather than Hygge which focuses on decluttering and simplifying.
Cozymaxxing cultivates a sense of contentment and tranquility while rejecting stress both physically and emotionally.
Also trending and related, but not quite as popular, is the “messy vibe” … messy sinks showing loads of beauty products, messy closets showing thrifted and vintage pieces, messy bookshelves showing a complex variety of books and collectibles, messy outfits that combine lots of different layers somewhat rakishly thrown together. Maximalist and bohemian is often cross referenced with messy so I think the comparison is apt.
How to Incorporate Cozymaxxing into Spring Marketing Strategies
Cozymaxxing during springtime involves embracing the season's unique qualities while creating a warm and inviting atmosphere in your space. Here are several ways to achieve this:
1. Focus on Natural Light
Incorporate imagery and concepts into your marketing that evoke the healing concept of sunshine and natural light. This is a natural mood booster. Hats, tents and sheer curtains soften the light and help maintain coziness. Create posts that evoke an aesthetic that embodies Spring coziness. Use warm colors, soft textures, and inviting imagery in your posts. This can include photos of comfortable spaces, layered textiles, and serene settings that evoke a sense of tranquility. This is a particularly great opportunity for candle, book, self care, decor, and pajama brands and products.
2. Suggest Renewal, Regeneration and Encourage Interaction
Encourage followers to share their own cozy experiences using a unique hashtag (see suggestions below)*. Reposting this content not only builds community but also showcases how your brand aligns with the cozymaxxing lifestyle. This could involve cozy corners, favorite books, or Spring and Easter decorations. Suggest transitioning from heavy winter fabrics to lighter, breathable materials. Cotton or linen throws and pillows in pastel or floral patterns to reflect the season. Utilize polls or quizzes to engage your audience in discussions about their cozy preferences. Ask questions like, "What's your favorite cozy activity?" or "Choose your top cozy items." This not only creates engagement but also allows for insights into your audience's interests.
